Jim Barrett
Jim joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 2001 as a General Partner. He specializes in biotechnology and works with members of NEA's healthcare investment group on medical devices, healthcare information systems and healthcare services companies. Present board memberships include Eximias Pharmaceutical Corporation, GlycoMimetics, Inhibitex, Inc. (NASDAQ: INHX), Iomai Corporation ("IOMI"), Nucleonics, Inc., Peptimmune, Inc., Pharmion Corporation (NASDAQ: PHRM), Ruxton Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sensors for Medicine and Science, Supernus Pharmaceuticals and Targacept. Inc. He also served on the board of MedImmune.
Prior to NEA, Jim served as Founder/Chairman/CEO of Sensors for Medicine and Science (1997 - 2001) where he remains Chairman. Prior to that, he was Chairman/CEO of Genetic Therapy (1987 - 1995), President/CEO of Life Technologies (1985 - 1987), and President/CEO of Bethesda Research Labs (1982 - 1983). Prior to 1982, Jim worked in various divisions of SmithKline. NEA and Jim have worked together since 1982 when he was recruited to run Bethesda Research Laboratories, which merged with Life Technologies. NEA then backed Jim at Genetic Therapy and later at Sensors for Medicine and Science. Jim received a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee, his MBA from the University of Santa Clara, and a BS in Chemistry from Boston College.

Michael Bigham
Michael Bigham is a General Partner of Abingworth Management, a leading international venture capital firm concentrating in life sciences. From December 2002 to March 2004 he served as Vice Chairman of Corixa Corporation, a publicly-traded biotechnology company, and was President and Chief Executive of Coulter Pharmaceuticals from July 1996 until it merged into Corixa in December 2000. Previously, he was an early employee at Gilead Sciences where he spent eight years serving in various capacities, including Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Gilead, Mr. Bigham was a partner at Hambrecht & Quist where he became Co-Head of Healthcare Investment Banking. He has a B.S. Degree with distinction from the University of Virginia and qualified as a CPA before completing his MBA at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Jack A. Khattar
The founder of Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Khattar, has 19 years of industry experience in the development and commercialization of pharmaceutical products and drug delivery technologies.
Prior to founding Supernus, and for more than 6 years, Mr. Khattar served as a Board member, President and CEO of Shire Laboratories Inc., the drug delivery subsidiary of Shire plc. Mr. Khattar joined Shire from CIMA, a drug delivery company that is currently a division of Cephalon, where he last served as an Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Management Committee. At CIMA he was also responsible for business development including the licensing of CIMA's technologies, corporate alliances and strategic planning.
Prior to joining CIMA in 1995, Mr. Khattar held several marketing and business development positions at Merck & Co., Novartis, Playtex and Kodak in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
In 1985, he received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Board member of Rockville Economic Development Inc.

 Charles W. Newhall III
Chuck is a Co-Founder and General Partner of NEA. Chuck's investment activities focus on healthcare service and biopharmaceutical companies. Chuck currently sits on the boards of directors of AMERIGROUP, Caremark Rx, Communication Systems Technology, ElderHealth, HealthSouth Corp., LifeMetrix, Pioneer EyeCare, Sensors for Medicine & Science and VIRTMED. He works closely with MediSphere Health Partners & CompHealth.
His prior board memberships include Chomerics, Genetic Therapy, Life Technologies, Russ Pharmaceuticals, Scandipharm, Sepracor, Surgical Health and Zymark Corporation. He is a founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. Before co-founding NEA, Chuck was a Vice President with T. Rowe Price Associates and Vice President of their New Horizons Fund. Chuck holds a B.A. in English Literature with honors from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business.

 William A. Nuerge
Mr. William A. Nuerge has over 30 years medical/pharmaceutical industry experience. Bill is the former CEO and Executive Board Member of Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He currently serves on the Board of Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is the founder of "Fortress Pharms." Bill previously served on other boards, including Buzzeo Associates, LTD, PDMA Inc., and Cutanogen Corporation.
After several years as a medical technologist serving Purdue University's Veterinary School of Medicine, Bill began his pharmaceutical career in 1978 with Lafayette Pharmaceuticals (originally a division of Alcon Laboratories) as a quality control chemist and microbiologist. Over the 16 plus years he served with Lafayette, Bill held several positions of increasing responsibility culminating with the position of General Manager and Vice President of Operations. In 1994, Bill joined Richwood Pharmaceuticals Company, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer.
In 1997, Richwood merged with Shire and Bill was subsequently promoted to President and CEO of Shire US. During his tenure, Shire US grew to over $1 billion and became one of the most successful specialty pharmaceutical companies.
Bill holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from Purdue University. While at Purdue, he also completed two years postgraduate study in management and business law. In April 2004, he was named a Purdue "Distinguished Alumni." Bill received his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University where he was voted the "Outstanding Professional" of his MBA graduating class.

 Michael B. Sheffery, Ph.D
Michael is a founding General Partner of OrbiMed Advisors and co-head of its private equity group. Dr. Sheffery was previously Head of the Laboratory of Gene Structure and Expression at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He received both his B.A. in Biology and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. Dr. Sheffery joined Mehta and Isaly in 1996 as a senior analyst covering the biotechnology industry. Dr. Sheffery is currently a Director of Eximias Pharmaceutical Corporation and Supernus Pharmaceuticals, and was formerly a Director of Biosynexus, Memory Pharmaceuticals, and NeoGenesis Pharmaceuticals. He has board observer rights at MacroGenics.
